Month: January, 2014

It’s heating up at RhythmWorks East!

Our East End dancers continued working on their Indian Dance routine featuring a medley of classical Indian Dance, Bangara and Bollywood moves.  This week there was a particular emphasis on refining the moves for the Chorus and second verse of the song.
Keep up the amazing work!

DramaWorks Process Program continues with their Pantomime curriculum!

Our DramaWorks Process Program continued their work on their Pantomime curriculum with a focus on character work.  They had fun working on task oriented mime projects and building up to transitioning into characterization.  There was a lot of individual focus on the work as opposed to our typical group work. But it appeared as though everyone was embodying the characters and enjoying committing to their mime. A highlight of the class was that Cara brought her guitar and played a couple of songs.  Other participants also tried exploring with music.  We also give a shout out to David for showing all the performers what great projection he has.

Keep up the great work guys.

VisualArtWorks continues with Etching Project!

Our VisualArts program has been continuing with their Etching project.  They had fun viewing and critiquing one anothers work as they revealed their finished etching glass from last week.

They recently started their background work on their new project with a focus on pattern making and sequence appliqué.

Reminder to bring dry indoor shoes.

Actors connected with DramaWay continue to wow and showcase their own personal talent and creativity out in the community!

We strongly urge you all to take a few moments to check out this clip from Durability featuring an actor we work with in DramaWorks. Meet Prince Dariush. Dariush Yan Zarrabi have recently published their own book titled Rise of the Prince.  The book really brings out positive messages which resonate with us all, and we are honoured to have DramaWay mentioned.

Dariush as always was extremely eloquent and articulate in the interview and one of the most relaxed individuals I’ve seen on TV.  Way to go buddy, we are all so proud.

We urge you all to purchase your own copy of the book.

DramaWorks Rehearsals continue

This week our DramaWorks groups were working on the Grease Lightening Choreography while also doing line reads for all other characters.

We spoke about the importance of bringing water to class along with dry indoor shoes.

It’s also important to remember to not arrive early at our rental locations. We are not permitted to go inside more than 15 minutes before a class, so please avoid arriving before the scheduled time or you may be waiting out in the cold. In this cold snap, that would be dangerous.

Thanks for your consideration.

SocialWorks keeps busy during this cold snap!

Hello SocialWorks Families,

This past week was another great week in exploring the theme of home safety. In doing so, we looked at rules when staying home alone, what we should know when we are home alone, what to do in an in house emergency whether we are alone or not – and what we should pack in a home emergency kit. To do do so, we played “Emergency Kit Bingo” which you may find in your teens homework binder. This was a not only a fun exercise, but repetition helped to reinforce the importance of these items in an emergency kit. We also touched upon warning labels and symbols through a memory game. We ended the class by watching a great YouTube video that included many tips that we spoke about in class. You can find the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDSooHLY69k. Once again the homework packages sent home 2 weeks ago include the information and worksheets that pertain to this week and the upcoming 2 weeks on safety we will be discussing in class. This upcoming Friday we will focus on safety in the community.
Have a great week and we look forward to seeing you on Friday.
Keep in mind you can tell your friends that they have the option of signing up for both Winter and Spring sessions still or they can attend just the remaining winter term or just the spring session.  We do offer 1 FREE trial class. But spots are still limited so they must contact our office first.
