Update for Today

by dramawayadmin

Hello SocialWorks Families,

We have a couple of quick but VITAL announcements from SocialWorks this week!
First announcement: In regards to the Special Olympics Public Service announcement we had been working on in class these past couple of weeks, we need all participants and volunteers to fill out a media release form specifically for the Special Olympics Campaign. As the PSA is due May 12th – it is important that we get this back ASAP. If you can please scan or fax (fax to 905-281-2412) the form attached to this email back to me at your earliest convenience it will be extremely helpful going forward. For our friends that we will see tomorrow at Erinoak, if you would like to print and bring a hard copy in a desecrate envelope that will work as well. I will give out hardcopies in class this week, but as mentioned it’s instrumental we get them back as soon as possible. Please find the form below.
Second announcement: This week we focused on Pedestrian and Transit safety in preparation for our outing this week. We learned about different signs and emergency situations. We discussed which resources we can travel with and have on hand to better prepare us for emergency or unexpected situations such as, a bus going out of service or taking a detour. We did this as always, through the helpful worksheets provided as well as safety videos and our own SocialWorks role-play. In addition we sang our “Independent Travel Safety Song” written by DramaWay’s own Alanna Balicki to the Tune of Michael Jackson’s “Bad”.
As a reminder this week we will be going on our trip to Crabby Joe’s at South Common Mall. Weather permitting we will meet at St. Mark’s elementary school and travel as a group to the restaurant. If the weather is poor, I will email and call families in the morning and request drop-off at South Common mall for 6:00pm. I sent home hard copies of the menu, however if your teen was not in class this week, we encourage you to look at the menu online to be prepared and know what to order when it comes time to. As mentioned previously participants are responsible for bringing their own money, $20 should suffice for most items on the menu.
Once again if you have any questions, comments or concerns feel free to contact me at anytime during this week by email or the number below.
