ExpressionWorks update

Wow, Time Flies! We can’t believe another amazing term of Expression Works is coming to a close. Everyone has been so patient and wonderful this term with the transition that took place at the end of March.
The last class will be on June 8th, 2017. Participants will arrive at the regular class time at 6:30 pm. June 8th is also the date for our Open Class from 7:15 – 8:15 pm. Families, friends and anyone you know who may benefit from our class are invited to attend the Open Class.  Families are encouraged to bring nut free/gluten free snacks to share if possible.
Thank you so much for the continued support and enrollment.
Looking forward to seeing you all on June 8th, which is the last day for Expression Works this term.

SocialWorks Update

Hello All!
Last week we had a great session continuing with our creative expression. The past 2 weeks we have been focusing our exercises on concepts such as
-public speaking
-assertiveness
-awareness of others
-spacial/surrounding awareness
During the last 30 minutes of class – we took a quick field trip out into the mall for a little scavenger hunt, to practice awareness of surroundings.
This week we will be focusing our exercises and games surrounding the theme of conflict resolution.
We will continue to take this physical-hands creative arts approach as we go through the term – it is a lot of fun for everyone, and hopefully will help to increase confidence and willingness to public speak.
May 31st 2017 will be our bowling excursion at Classic Bowl – Wintson Churchill and Dundas – just 5 minutes from Sheridan Mall in the Starsky’s Plaza. More info coming soon!
We look forward to seeing you all tonight,

Update for ExpressionWorks

The April Showers are upon us and boy did it rain on Thursday. The rain was the topic of interest and did create a bit of anxiety in the first half of the stretch. However as the class progressed and News Flash began, everyone was a trooper and did not let it hamper their focus.
We were all happy to note that the day for our annual TTC Outing is around the corner. In order to prepare our group for the Outing, last week we talked about safety while traveling, learned about the accessible stations and stations that have washroom. We also had a conversation around where we wait on the station, who we travel with, what we do if there are delays and the route we would take.
Before breaking into small groups and then coming together to talk about our upcoming TTC outing, we played an engaging educational game. The game involved questions that related to different scenarios on how one might feel. Each person was given a feeling like sad, excited, happy and then had to see which emotion best matched the question as they were randomly chosen from a bag.
Overall a very informative, proactive session!  We look forward to our outing tomorrow. Please bring rain gear to plan for the weather.  Looking forward to our TTC Outing on May 4th
