Evening Programs – Summer of 2016

Our 2016 Summer Nights Evening Programming is geared and modified for youth and adults with special needs of ALL abilities. This program is an extension of our year round evening creative arts programming and has been offered since 1999. This year the program will be held at two convenient TTC accessible locations (1) Summerhill & Yonge; Community Living Toronto @ 30 Birch Avenue; Downtown and (2) Ellesmere & McCowan; 1712 Ellesmere Road; Community Living Scarborough.

Tuesday Night ShakespeareWorks Camp exposes participants to the world of theatre and dance inspired by the work of Shakespeare. The group will work towards showcasing a small piece on the final camp date for family and friends. This program runs on Tuesday evenings for eight weeks.

MultiArtWorks Evening Camp spans the realm of fine arts while engaging participants in the three disciplines of drama, dance and visual arts. A small open class showcase is planned to take place on the final camp date for family and friends. This program will run for eight weeks at two locations:

MULTIARTWORKS OPTION 1: Wednesday Evening Multi Arts Camp; 1712 Ellesmere Road

MULTIARTWORKS OPTION 2: Thursday Evening Multi Arts Camp; 30 Birch Avenue

Often campers are given the chance to meet with guest specialists in the arts when available. With a camper to staff ratio of 5:1, our programs are tailored to the individual strengths and abilities of each camper. Every aspect of our programming is designed to be process oriented and campers enjoy our non-competitive atmosphere. We make every effort to build communication skills and to further the development of social skills while also enhancing self-esteem. Register for all three evening programs and save over $100 or register for two evenings and save over $65. Campers also have the option of simply enrolling for just one evening camp if preferred.

DramaWay Actor & Dancer Sam Forbes A.k.a the Dancing Barista visits Ellen!

We are so delighted to be featuring this clip here on our Blog of our dear friend, DramaWay Actor & Dancer Sam Forbes.  He is now well known by millions as the Dancing Starbucks Barista, but we’ve known he’s been a true talent since the day we met him.

So happy that our DramaWay performers get these type of opportunities!  Way to go Sam!

Happy New Year & Thanks to all our Funders & Supporters!

DramaWay 016

Happy New Year All!

We hope this message finds you all well and rested after our Holiday Season. Are you as excited as this young lady is to get back into the groove of things? We hope so.

Well, as most of you have likely seen on our Social Media sites we were quite busy this Holiday season. Between launching and maintaining our  second year of our Indiegogo Fundraising Campaign and running our new Holiday Camp for Kerry’s Place … we had a filled season.  Our Kerry’s Place camp was a huge success and we look forward to offering them some Creative Arts Programming over the March Break.

We have been doing extremely well thus far with our 2016 Indiegogo Campaign and have raised $2920 thus far. This has been exciting for all our participants who keep sharing their excitement with us. Our Staff and Volunteers are delighted as well. With only 21 days left in the campaign we are far from our goal, but we are feeling hopeful that we will get closer to reaching our goal and continue to forge ahead. Thanks to all our our Funders and supporters thus far. Remember even if you can’t contribute financially, you can share as many of our parents such as Dorlene and Doris have done.  This really helps to get the word out!

Reminder to check our website for your class start date under the Program Heading as that is where the most up to date information is placed.  Other areas aren’t always updated by our web designers so continue to check your child’s or your Program Page and ensure you are familiar with any important dates.

It’s also crucial to plan moving forward during the Winter Months to wear indoor shoes to ensure we keep our rental facilities looking wonderful. Thanks for your cooperation.  For all those in DramaWorks, we trust you used the Holiday Season wisely to work on learning and memorizing your lines to the best of your ability.

We look forward to upcoming classes with you all.
