Welcome Back! (Update: Weeks 1 & 2)
Welcome Back!
Welcome back everyone! We are so glad to have old and new friends come together for the SocialWorks winter term.
Last week was an introduction to the class, reviewing our SocialWorks Group Contract, Class Mandates and other administrative information. From there we moved onto explore things within the theme of Leadership and Teamwork. Together in groups, we thought of words that could describe a leader, and came up with different dramatic scenes to emulate those ideas.
This past week we were at South Common Community Center due to conflict schedules with the Church, however we had a blast! We focused on Good and Bad Friendships. We one again thought of words which could describe friendships, and which types of friends are ones we want to keep. After a lengthily group discussion sharing our ideas, each participant got to chose a way in which they wanted to represent their idea of friendship. We had all types of different representations through different art forms. Participants drew pictures, shared a dramatic scene with the group, wrote a poem and we even had someone do a dance!
This week we will distributing homework home which is to be brought back to the program each week. A reminder that homework is not necessarily checked, however serves a good bridge between SocialWorks and Home and helps parents to know what we are doing, and helps participants to reinforce concepts outside of the home.
We look forward to seeing you all back at Streetsville United Church this Friday!
Have a Great Week!

Friends enjoy each others company while attending this fabulous program. The group performed Where the Wild Things Are last year. Stay tuned for what the Open Class will be this year.
Thanks so much.
Happy Faces are seen here at DramaWay as we embark on our Casting Process for our 2014 DramaWorks Productions.
The shots above were taken by the talented Patricia Parker this past summer at our ActingWorks Theatre Intensive. But it also reminds us of all the fun everyone has in class while engaging in our audition process.
In class, we have been encouraging all of our actors to remain open as professionals do, with regards to the role they will be cast in for this years adaptation of Grease. As always, our staff and volunteer team work tremendously hard, to ensure each person gets a role that is best suited for them. During this process, we encourage families to have an open discussion with their actor/performer to support this approach. We may not be able to cast each person in the role they desire, however, we will do our best to be fair to all involved. Thanks for your understanding.
