CAMH Media Opportunity

Hello,

My name is Yasmin Muñoz, I work with CAMH (the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health) and I have a media opportunity available.

We run a project that wants to help make it easier for Doctors, Nurses and other Health Care professionals to take care of patients with developmental disabilities. Part of this project involves making posters to help doctors see the different types of patients they would meet in the emergency room or in doctor’s offices. This project is called DD CARES and if you’d like more information you can visit http://knowledgex.camh.net/HCARDD/RESOURCES/Pages/default.aspx.

These posters would have your names, photos, a little story about you and a quote about how you feel about going to the doctor or hospital. It can also be about what you feel about health in general. This is also optional and you may choose to not have any of your personal information on the poster, just your photo.

The photos would be taken by myself and a volunteer photographer who is generously donating her time to the project. The photos would be taken at CAMH on a weekday in mid September, which is still to be determined. The most likely time is late afternoon/early evening. Refreshments will be provided.

The posters would be posted in a few hospitals (including Sunnybrook, St. Mikes, Thunderbay Hospital) and on the CAMH website. I’m attaching some of our previous posters for your review and interested parties can contact. If under 18, parent/guardian consent is required so you can talk this over with your parents/guardians before you agree to do this. It is important to note that posters will not be distributed unless your consent is given and unless you are happy with the final result.

If you have any questions, you can contact me at Yasmin.munoz@camh.ca, at 416-535-8501 ext. 37819 or at my other email y.a.munoz@hotmail.com.

Thanks for your time,

Yasmin

DDCARES POSTERS-1

Guest Artist, Advocate, Educator, TV Host & Consultant Jahmeelah Gamble came to visit DramaWay ActingWorks today

Our ActingWorks crew had a wonderful session this morning as they had a one-on-one sit down face-to-face with Advocate, Educator/TV Host & Consultant Jam Gamble. I only recently met her yesterday when I had the pleasure of featuring our work on her TV Show “A Voice For All” yesterday with Dariush Yan Zarrabi.
It was a wonderful segment, and it is a true honour that she took time out of her busy schedule to visit us today at Swansea Town Hall during our ActingWorks Program with Brooke Banning of Peanut Butter People and Erin Roy Theatre Practitioner and current volunteer.

Take a look at Jam Gamble’s work and feel free to share this link with others.

Classes and Registration for 2014-2015

Information for All Participants and DramaWay Families.

Dear participants/parents/guardians,

We hope this message finds you well, you’ve likely already seen this message in email, but if not at least soaking up the remaining days left of the summer weather.

We are writing to remind you all that registration is still open for our year round classes which are set to resume again the week of September 21st. Please note however, that in order to continue to ensure that all programming is led by qualified and experienced arts facilitators, as well as securing skilled and caring volunteers, we will be running each class with a minimum size this year. We have recently completed a business analysis with a qualified Business Consulting firm, and the numbers clearly show us that the minimum number of participants for each class must be at least 13 attendees. With this in mind, we have set a deadline of September 16th as the date that our numbers have to be confirmed. If, by the above date a class does not have the minimum number of participants registered and paid in full, we will be unable to offer the program.

Therefore, with the above in mind, we encourage all interested who have not yet done so to register ASAP so that we can determine which classes will indeed be operating for our 2014-2015 year. We will, of course, let you know when classes have met their minimum/maximum so that you may plan your year accordingly. Please send all registration forms and payments directly to our office at 11 Emmett Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M6M 2E3. For those mailing the packages in, it would be helpful for us to receive an email or call to advise us the package is on it’s way. A full refund will be given to anyone who has already paid for a class that will not run due to low enrollment.

To help us reach this goal, we are also offering an incentive for families. For all those who are able to spread the word and encourage a new participant to sign-up, we will ensure you receive a $25 credit to future DramaWay programming. Please help us reach this attainable goal! As always, we wish to thank you for your ongoing support and consideration. Let’s make this a year to remember, as we continue into our 14th year of business by enriching lives with creativity!
