Hello SocialWorks Families and Participants,
Pease note starting this week, Adina will no longer be sending out e-mails directly. We are moving in the direction like we do with all the other Programs, where we direct families to use the DramaWay Blog – so please look there for future updates. To make it convenience for you we will also send out a link that week with the Blog link that will directly to you. As we know some of you may find it confusing to use the Blog. To help, we suggest you Favourite/Bookmark this link

We hope you all enjoyed your weekend! If the road conditions are unsafe by 3 pm tonight, we will e-mail families and update the blog immediately and re-schedule our programming. Stay tuned.
This week, we will focus on confidence speaking. We will work on building one on one conversations – as well as public speaking. Over the next 2 weeks, we will attempt to think and write speeches in class which will be performed and presented to the group, and then to our parents at the end of the year showcase. In lieu of February being Back History Month, our speeches will be based on the “I Have A Dream” speech. Each participant will work on a speech on what they dream of, whether it be eating the largest pizza in the world, going to Disneyland, or equity for all – we will give our participants free reign to share their thoughts and ideas on their future dreams and aspirations. We will work on various types of speeches, allowing participants to write, show pictures, program or verbally perform their work. To get everyone’s memory active – it could be helpful to ask your participant what some of their wishes/dreams are. Once again if your participant uses a communication device, please ensure that is being sent and pulled out at the start of each night at program before you leave.
Last week, we took at look at the serious issue of bullying. We looked at how to speak out against bullies, stand-up for ourselves as well as making sure we know the difference between tattling and telling adults when there is a problem to make sure we don’t come off as the bully or get our issues resolved without feeling like a tattle. Our groups worked really well with one another, and seem to have a great handle on the concepts! Good job everyone! If parents are interested in any further information on Bullying/Bullying Resources – the Peel District School Board has amazing free resources at this link: http://www.peelschools.org/aboutus/safeschools/bullying/Pages/default.aspx
