The Spring Term of SocialWorks starts back up on April 19th/2017

Tonight will be the last class of SocialWorks for the winter term.

Remember, our Spring term starts back up on April 19th 2017.
Thus far we unfortunately only have 5 participants enrolled for the Spring semester. This is not an ideal number to run the program going forward. If you have not made payment or do not plan on attending the Spring session, please let Danielle or myself know as soon as possible.
We are planning on having a bowling-night made available to everyone for a small fee (less than $15 a participant) in the Spring. We will make it available to all past and present attendees. Details to follow soon.
We hope to see everyone tomorrow,

ExpressionWorks Progressing!

We have updated the clowning google drive folder to include memories from last Thursday.  What magic!  Check out from the direct link here if you’d like.

Our talented Office Coordinator and talented Video Lady Adina will be piecing all of the year’s photos and short video snips into a video to air at our final class in June.

It’s been a joy and refreshing now that we are incorporating new ideas and truly embracing  our current Team-teaching approach. It’s been wonderful to have all of our staff and volunteers come together to share their collective talents for our Spring Term. We will miss Alanna but I know we will make her proud by continuing on this wonderful program she spent so much time fostering and nurturing.

Our class on the 30th– with our Staff members Divya and Anne leading the opening hour, and then Alex spearheading our Musical Theatre portion in the later have will be so fun! We look forward to seeing you all.

Casting Opportunity from Pixcom Productions

Hi Everyone

We received this email and thought we’d share it with all of you.

From: Harriet Luke <hluke@pixcom.com>
Date: Mon, Mar 6, 2017 at 12:01 PM
Subject: Pixcom Productions – Development/Casting
Cc: Taeo Soleil Levine <taeolevine1@gmail.com>

I just wanted to follow up on our conversation re: the show we have in development right now with CBC, that you might be able to help us with!

Just to recap the series will feature a group of individuals with disabilities who are super eager to get a job in the restaurant industry, but have struggled to do so. They will be put through a training course with a top head chef in order to learn the skills needed to work in a restaurant and set them up to enter the workforce!

We are looking to cast people with a wide rage of disabilities, ideally people who are starting out in their careers (18 –  25  years old). We are looking for people who have a positive attitude, an outgoing personality, and who would be capable of working long days and can communicate effectively. They can be located anywhere across the county.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated! At this stage we are just looking to speak with people on the phone and do Skype interviews. Taeo, cc’ed here is heading up the trainee casting, and will be in touch as well.

Look forward to hearing from you and don’t hesitate to give me a call if you have any questions!

Chat soon,

Hello DramaWorks Group A & Group B, DramaWorks East & DramaWorks West:

Please follow and subscribe to our YouTube Channel for resources at home.
We have uploaded our Final Dance Choreo to the 2017 Playlist linked below.

ExpressionWorks Families!

We are looking forward to clowning around with ExpressionWorks leaders over the next couple classes– tonight and next week, on March 16th.
ExpressionWorks will break on March 23rd, and resume for the Spring term in team-teaching on March 30th.
Tonight— the ExpressionWorks clowns will embark on many playful adventures!  Our Head Facilitator Alanna aims for the group to celebrate the beauty of travel and change, as you know Alanna will soon be embracing travelling herself in B.C.  Please do not hesitate to contact her or our office with any strategies or insight you have on how to support this transition for all of us.  We have attached one of the clowning visuals we’ll be utilizing tonight in case it serves to be helpful at home as well.
If you fancy getting your groove on tomorrow, come join Alanna as she facilitates her final Ontario dance party for a while.  The poster with more details is attached.  It’s destined to be a fun opportunity for every age and ability to dance their hearts loud and embrace their personal style in a safe and accepting community.  The studio is big and beautiful, but please note that its located on the 3rd floor and only accessible via wide stairs.

ExpressionWorks Update

Last weeks’s class went very well.  We had a full house and celebrated our final visual arts session with self-love medicine card creation.  It was so lovely watching everyone connect in pairs.  What a fabulous community this is!  We had a chance to upload a ton of great pictures and video snips– see them on google here.
We are getting excited about our Team Teaching moving into action for the Spring Term as Alanna prepares for her adventures. In clown this week we hope to celebrate adventure and exploring change as a way to segway our deal Alanna’s near departure.

Artists with Disabilities – Invitation!

Hello Friends,

We are sharing this on behalf of our volunteer  & Support Staff Zoe Stark.

She recently become acquainted with a wonderful organization that is holding an event in Toronto in May. They have asked her to help them find artists to round out their collection in order to represent different demographics and communities. She is reaching out to DramaWay in hopes that some of our Artists or someone that you are in contact with, knows of any artists with a disability who would like to get their art out and seen, and also make a little cash!

If you are interested, please, please e-mail Zoe as soon as possible (they are in a bit of a time-crunch), even more preferable email her and attach a picture of an art piece/pieces the Artist has created and is willing to sell.

A bit about Time Raiser:

“Timeraiser150 is a Canada 150 Signature Project supporting emerging Canadian artists and nonprofit organizations.  10 Timeraiser150 parties in 10 provinces allow Canadians to bid on original art by investing volunteer time, not dollars, to causes they care about.  Each Timeraiser150 pulls out all the stops to throw a great party – from live performances to delicious local food and drink. Timeraiser is truly a celebration of creativity and community! Artists are paid for their work, nonprofits find skilled volunteers, Canadians find meaningful volunteer opportunities.
